In October 2018, New Zealand Woolscouring Ltd obtained certification for the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) by Control Union Certifications, The Netherlands.

This certification opens the door for New Zealand wool growers, wool exporters and other wool users to have access to a facility that can process wool to the international certification levels required to meet the RWS standard.

The RWS standard requires full traceability from grower to end user and through to garment, having

a processor certified completes the chain for those wishing to sell through the RWS certified

pipeline. The standard requires strict environmental protocols during processing.

We believe that having this standard available in New Zealand is going to be of substantial benefit to the New Zealand wool grower and will showcase New Zealand wools as being responsibly grown and processed through world class early processing facilities. There are a growing number of farmers who have attained the RWS standard already as they realize that creating a point of difference can often create a premium for their products and access to non-traditional markets.

The certification is the result of many years investment and innovation to create what is now a world-class wool

processing facility here in New Zealand.
